  • Unfamiliar bank: Explain to your bank that Bucket Funds charges your card via PayPal and may show up as an online bank.

Technical Issues:

Before You Begin:

  • To make a pledge, you’ll need a Bucket Funds account. If you haven’t created one yet, it’s quick and easy! Sign up [HERE].

Pledging Made Easy:

  1. Head over to your chosen campaign page and click the “Back Campaign” button.
  2. Explore the Rewards: Many campaigns offer exciting rewards for backers at different pledge levels. If a reward catches your eye, select the corresponding “Select Reward” tier and enter your desired pledge amount.
  • No Reward? No Problem! If you simply want to contribute without a reward, or the campaigner hasn’t listed a reward, simply skip to step 3.
  1. Double-Check the Details: Once you’ve clicked “Back Campaign”, you’ll be directed to a summary page. Here, you can carefully review your billing information, shipping details, and your pledge amount, reward selection (if applicable).
  2. Complete Your Pledge: Enter your payment details and acknowledge that rewards aren’t guaranteed. Once everything looks good, click the “Place Order” button to finalize your pledge.  Please note: Currently, splitting a pledge between multiple cards isn’t possible.
  3. Congratulations! You’ve successfully pledged your support! A confirmation email will be sent to your registered address, officially welcoming you as a backer of the campaigner.

Didn’t Receive Confirmation?

If you didn’t reach a “Thank You” page or receive a confirmation email, your pledge might not have gone through. Don’t worry, simply try again! If you continue to experience difficulties, our friendly Bucket Funds Support team is here to help. Just contact us and we’ll be happy to assist you.

Your card will typically be charged right away after you successfully confirm your pledge.

It’s important to note that while the charge is authorized instantly, it might take your bank  7 to 10 business days to reflect the transaction on your online statement or app.

Didn’t See the Charge?

If you don’t see the charge reflected within this timeframe, the first step is to check with your bank directly. They can confirm if the transaction was processed and provide details on when it will appear on your account.

Temporary Authorization:

Some backers might notice a temporary authorization for the pledged amount on their card shortly after making a pledge. This is a common practice to ensure the card is valid and has sufficient funds.  These authorizations typically drop off within a few days, but the exact timeframe can vary depending on your bank’s procedures.

If you notice an authorization that hasn’t dropped after a week or so, it’s best to contact your bank directly. They can provide more information about their authorization process and help you resolve any lingering holds.

The Updates Section:

  • The campaign page’s “Updates” section is your best resource for current project status information. Creators are encouraged to regularly update backers on their progress.

Understanding Delays:

  • Project development can sometimes hit unforeseen roadblocks or experience unavoidable delays.
  • It’s not uncommon for creators to underestimate the time needed to bring their dream to life. Unlike established businesses, unexpected challenges can arise.

Communication is Key:

  • Bucket Funds expects creators to communicate any setbacks and keep backers informed.
  • If you’ve requested an update and haven’t received a response, consider reaching out directly to the creator through their Bucket Funds contact information.
  • Leaving a comment on the project page is another option to get the creator’s attention.

Bucket List Campaigns

Bucket Funds is designed to connect dreamers with supporters all over the world! Here’s a breakdown of who can participate:

Backers:

  • The Bucket Funds community welcomes backers from anywhere in the world! As long as you have a valid, major debit or credit card and a registered Bucket Funds account, you can support the projects that spark your passion.

Dreamers Launching Campaigns:

  • Currently, only dreamers with accounts verified in the United States can launch campaigns on Bucket Funds.
  • This means the physical address on your verification documents must be within the US. The good news is that once verified, you can choose to list your campaign as taking place outside the US!

Age Restrictions:

  • Only individuals over the age of 18 can participate in creating a project. This ensures responsible use of the platform.

Valid Identification:

  • To ensure a secure and trustworthy environment, all dreamers launching campaigns will need a valid government-issued ID from within the United States.

Account Eligibility:

  • Only individuals can raise funds for bucket list adventures on Bucket Funds. Businesses and non-profit organizations are not currently eligible to hold accounts.

Bank Account Requirements:

  • To receive your successfully pledged funds, you’ll need a supported bank account and / or PayPal account located in the United States.
  • This account must be a checking account held in your name (the individual raising funds) and be able to receive ACH direct deposit transfers in the currency your campaign is collecting. For your reference, Bucket Funds does not support wire transfers, savings accounts, or virtual bank accounts transfers.
  • Important: To avoid any delays or issues with receiving your funds, we highly recommend double-checking that your bank account information is entered accurately.

Updating Bank Account Information:

  • While we strive to make the process smooth, there may be situations where you need to update your bank account information. In certain cases, the Bucket Funds team can assist you with this process. Feel free to contact us if you encounter any difficulties.

Campaign Payout:

  • Please note: Once your campaign’s payout has already been initiated, we are unable to make any further changes to the bank account / PayPal account, or beneficiary details associated with your campaign.

Payment Method for Dreamers:

  • Finally, to manage your campaign and finalize the pledge process, you’ll need a major credit or debit card registered in your name (the campaign creator).

Remember, once your campaign launches, you cannot adjust your funding goal or deadline.

  • Reaching Your Goal: Ask yourself two key questions to ensure your goal is within reach:
    1. Can you complete the project and fulfill all rewards even if you only raise your exact goal amount? If not, you’ll need to adjust your goal upwards.
    2. Would you feel disappointed if the campaign falls slightly short (around 90% funded)? If so, consider setting a lower goal, but make sure you can still answer yes to the first question.
  • Confidence in Completion: If you’re confident you can complete your campaign and fulfill all rewards regardless of the final raised amount, you can set your goal at the amount you anticipate raising from your personal network (family, friends, fans, and existing online communities). The beauty of Bucket Funds is that you can always surpass your goal and raise even more!
  • Success Rate and Goal Size: Statistics show that campaigns with larger funding goals tend to have lower success rates. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean creators set the wrong goal. Sometimes, raising additional funds beyond the core project budget is necessary to ensure its smooth execution.

Ultimately, your goal should be ambitious but achievable. Prioritize fulfilling your rewards to backers and set yourself up for a successful and fulfilling Bucket Funds campaign!

  • US Bank Account: Campaign bank accounts based in the United States.
  • Transaction Threshold: You have received more than $20,000 USD in total gross volume.
  • Transaction Frequency: You have processed more than 200 charges.

The 1099-K is an informational form summarizing your account’s income activity to assist with tax reporting. It’s provided to you, the IRS, and potentially certain US states. States with Lower Thresholds:

  • Massachusetts, Mississippi, and Vermont require 1099-Ks for each unique tax identification number with at least $600 USD in gross volume.

Received a 1099-K Unexpectedly?

If you processed less than $20,000 and 200 transactions but still received a 1099-K, it might be due to:

  • Multiple Accounts: You might have multiple accounts linked to the same Social Security Number (SSN) where one account meets the IRS threshold. In this case, each account would receive a 1099-K.
  • Combined Threshold: You might have multiple accounts under the same SSN that individually fall below the IRS threshold, but when combined, exceed it. Again, each account would receive a 1099-K.
  • State Thresholds: You might be located in a state with a lower reporting threshold, such as Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, or Vermont.
